MYZLUDA86~ BEFORE AND AFTER
MEET JASMINE ,WHO IS ALSO KNOWN AS MYZLUDA86 ON YOUTUBE. AFTER SHE "BIG CHOPPED" IT MADE HER FEEL FREE AND BRAND NEW.
HOW LONG WERE YOU THINKING OF GOING NATURAL ? WHAT'S THE STORY?
Well I never ever thought about natural hair ,nor did I know anything about it ,until a friend of mine introduced me to some women on youtube with natural hair back in 2008. At first I was hesitant because I just didn't want to let go of the relaxer. Then I started thinking...I do like my hair curly so why not do it any way! SO my last relaxer was in late October 2008. It didn't take me long to think about going natural once I did my research and I weighed all the benefits.
WAS YOUR TRANSITION A LONG OR SHORT ONE??
My transition ,I'd say was short. I started my transition November 2008 and chopped it all off May 26, 2009. So like ,7 months! Would that be short or in the middle lol?
WE ALL KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO MOISTURIZE YOUR HAIR WHILE IN TRANSITION ,WHAT PRODUCTS DID YOU USE TO KEEP YOUR HAIR MOISTURIZED ?
When I was transitioning, to be honest, I was still learning and didn't know much about keeping my hair moisturized. A product that I did use for that at the time was Hollywood Beauty's Castor Oil...I no longer use this product (don't like the ingredients) And Cantu Shea Butter Oil Sheen. Now I think I have it together! I use shea butter with oils to keep my hair moisturized.
WHAT WAS YOUR STAPLE HAIRSTYLE WHILE IN TRANSITION?
At the beginning of my transition phase I had micro braids but majority of the time I did roller sets, bantu knots, and flat twist outs.
WHEN YOU DECIDED TO BIG CHOP ,HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT YOUR CUT? AND HOW DID PEOPLE REACT TO IT?
When I did decide to do the big chop I was TOTALLY excited and anxious about the cut lol! I felt free and brand new once it was all gone because those two different hair textures were killing me! People were shocked that I did it but overall they said it fit me nicely. Now that I look at old pictures I'm like WOW I ACTUALLY DID THAT!!
DID YOU HAVE ANY REGRETS?? AND WHY?
The only regret I have is not researching products to the T! I have given a lot of products away because I started to have allergic reactions to some of the ingredients. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing!
WHAT ARE YOUR LONG TERM GOALS FOR YOUR HAIR JOURNEY?
My long term goals for my hair journey is just to keep my products and hair regimen simple and easy. Another thing is just to continue to have healthy hair and try new hair styles.
The first pic is a roller set that I did on my hair while transitioning, the middle is my relaxed days and the last is me now!
